MSE-PF1000型电子扫描式热金属检测器使用线阵锗二极管阵列作为检测器件，仪表内部的微处理器通过对阵列上每个锗二极管的循环扫描，可以得到每个二极管所接收到的热辐射电平值，通过对这些电平信号的比较分析，就可以从复杂的背景信号中快速的识别出热金属信号。因为它采用的是将热金属信号与背景热辐射信号相对比的方法（水涨船高、剔除背景噪音的的方法），所以不论是静态的红热铁屑还是动态的水雾、蒸汽都不会使仪表产生误触发。另外，镜头的脏污也不会提升触发电平，这样就保证了热金属检测的可靠性、性和快速性。
MSE-PF1000型扫描式热检利用电子扫描替代传统的光学棱镜扫描，省去了对旋转部件的维护，提高了扫描的可靠性。而传统的静态模拟式热检HMD只使用一个光电二极管单纯的检测超过设定门槛的红外信号，容易受到水雾和现场背景热辐射的影响。
