SCOPE : Radiator valve is a unit used to control the flow of transformer oil from the Transformerto the Radiator in oil cooled Transformer. The unit comprises of a Butterfly flap pivotingon a spindle for OPEN and CLOSE positions. The valve remains in OPEN-POSITIONwhen Transformer is “ON-LOAD”. For routine inspections and repairs of Radiators, turnthe Butterfly Flap to CLOSE POSITION. Size of Valve = 80mm. (Without Groove for Gasket) NATIONAL STANDARD : Not available MATERIAL : Recommended materials. Body & Cap : Cast Iron to IS:210 Type FG 260. Spindle, Flap & Stoppers : Carbon Steel as per IS:2073 Type C20 Fastners : Stainless Steel (Non – Magnetic) Grade to AISI – 304 / 316. Gasket : Nitrile Rubber GENERAL : Valve shall be capable of being operated with single hand by using a handle of 200mmLength (Approx). Valve shall be suitable to be locked in open and shut positions for indicating the aboveposition. Open and shut shall be cast on valve body & painted with white paint. A groove on the spindle head shall be provided to indicate the position of the valve whenthe cap is removed. An arrow on the cap shall be cast to indicate the valve position when cap is fitted arrowshall be painted with white paint. Bolt length and construction of the cap to be such that it can be fitted in one position onlyat a time i.e. arrow should indicate ‘SHUT’ when valve is closed & vice-versa M8 boltsshall be used for fixing the cap with valve body. TESTING : When oil pressure of 1.5 kg./Cm² is applied to the assembled valve in closed / openposition. Leakage shall not be more than as specified below.
