R型铁芯所用的材料是高牌号冷轧取向性硅钢片，铁芯卷绕好后，经过退火处理，使硅钢片的分子结构重新排列。
R型铁芯体积小，重量轻
R型铁芯是使用取向高牌号硅钢片卷绕而成，由于无切割因而体积小，效率高，重量轻(比EI型铁芯小30%、轻40%、薄40%)。
R型铁芯漏磁小
R型铁芯的铁芯没有磁隙且绕线均衡，因而漏磁小。无需设计任何防反漏磁措施。
R型铁芯无噪音产热小
由于R型铁芯是用无切割铁芯卷绕，具有均匀圆形截面
和连续的绕制，电阻损耗和产热都很 低，且由于没有切 割，磁致伸缩应力就很容易被吸收，因而保证了应用无噪音。
