- Pits can be formed on standard flat substrates by ultrasonic processing.
- Standard pit types include perpendicular pits, perpendicular counterbore pits, taper pits, 45° tilt pits, and perpendicular bag pits.
- When a pit is formed on a standard product, damage such as small cracks (normally, 0.2mm or less) called "pili" are inevitably generated around the pit during processing. If such pili present the potential to affect pit function, the pit is polished once again after processing.
